Negotiation Strategies

What are you to do if you ask for a raise and don’t get it? Joyce E. A. Russell, PhD, advises on how to answer that question for yourself before asking for the raise. Joyce is the Helen and William O’Toole Dean of Villanova School of Business, and for years wrote a career column advising on precisely this topic.

Joyce has written a great deal on job and salary negotiations, and how often people get in their own way when trying to work through these conversations.

A few examples of this are:

  • They don’t know how to properly negotiate
  • They haven’t done their research
  • They go in cold, without hard data, especially in the case of raises

Joyce will be discussing the importance of being prepared for the negotiations by doing your homework, practicing your approach, being ready with hard data to back up your request, and much more in this invaluable growth event.
