Kansas City again ranks as a top city for women in tech, but it has struggled to clinch the No. 1 spot.
For three consecutive years, the local tech hub has landed the No. 2 spot in SmartAsset’s “Best Cities for Women in Tech” list. Washington came in at No. 1, followed by Kansas City, Baltimore, Indianapolis and New Orleans. Overland Park, the only other area city to make the list, fell from its No. 37 spot last year to No. 50.
For its 2017 list, the financial tech company evaluated the 59 largest U.S. cities, scoring them on the gender pay gap in tech, income after housing costs, women as a percentage of the tech force and four-year tech employment growth.
